Comparing Government service website to Popular magazine website

Well Here I am writing a assesment for English talking about
The Victoria Police website and Alpha magazine website
first of all starting with...

Victoria Police   http://www.police.vic.gov.au/

Q1. What is this website attempting to communicate?
The website is attempting to communicate that being a cop isn’t a ordinary job and that even though there is a lot of hard work and risk there is also a great reward of a job done well that is making a difference.
Q2. Is this website an advertisement? or is it essentially informative?
There is a continual advertisement for recruiting new people, because on the home page it says Police recruiting

“Victoria Police is constantly seeking to recruit dynamic, innovative and dedicated people”
however it is primarily informative of who they are what they do, what they seek to achieve and what they stand for. The website also
has a place for complements and complaints for people to make.

The website shows the many services that Victoria police provide and what to do in an emergency.

Alpha Magizine the website http://www.alphamagazine.com.au/
Q1. What is this website attempting to communicate?
The website is there to explain the magazine and to show what is reguarly in the magazine and
also advertises subscription.

Is this website an advertisement? or is it essentially informative?

Essentially Alpha is trying to sell themselves to people on the web
the website is an advertisement for itself , its models and all of its different segments even their charity fund.
Q3. How does one decide on the difference between advertising and informing?
Advertising is primarily persuasively selling something while

Informing is primarily the giving of facts and warnings or how to’s .
